First Person On Scene (FPOS) - INTERMEDIATE
This course is designed to advance the First Aider towards achieving the First Person On Scene course. Throughout the training individuals will be taught the skills associated with rapid assessment, stabilisation and transfer of both the trauma victim and those suffering a medical emergency.
This course will develop individuals to gain a foundation knowledge enabling them to work individually or as part of a team in a variety of situations and locations throughout the world.
The first three days of the course are FPOS which is approved by Edexcel and is IHCD managed. The additional two days are for those requiring extended skills. The training includes both theoretical lectures and realistic practical sessions designed to offer students the opportunity to practice new-found skills.
Instructors host a variety of experience with backgrounds including; military medics, civilian paramedics, CP Operators; with recent operational experience.

- Opening and maintaining a clear airway
- Choking
- Use of suction
- Removal of crash helmets
- Use of oro-pharyngeal airways
- Oxygen supplementation
Basic Life Support
- Perform basic life support
- Recovery position
- Perform child and infant basic life support
Defibrillation
- Automated external defibrillation
- Normal / abnormal heart rhythms
Circulation and Shock
- Recognition and initial care of haemorrhage

Extended Skills are dependent on course requirements, these can include; Cannulation, Fluid Therapy, Advanced Trauma – Chest, Abdominal, Head and Extremity (including Tourniquets and Haemmorhage management)
